Oh hello!
I’m Kelli Nakagama. I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, where I graduated from the University of Utah (go Utes!) with Bachelor’s Degrees in Print Journalism and Anthropology. While living in Salt Lake City, I wrote about food and culture in several local magazines and websites.
In 2015 I moved to Chicago, where I spend my time eating my way through the city, traveling as often as possible, and obsessing about whiskey.
(Here’s why I love travel and why I love whiskey.)
Whisk(e)y Obsession
I’m the President of the Chicago Chapter of Women Who Whiskey, an international whiskey club that hosts events and tastings featuring worldwide brand ambassadors, distillers, master blenders, and more.
I’m constantly increasing my whiskey knowledge, whether by attending classes and events, reading whiskey and distilling books, and nerding out with fellow whiskey aficionados in Chicago. I’ve visited dozens of distilleries around the world (including the not-open-to-the-public MGP!), and even worked as a single malt brand ambassador for awhile.
In 2010 I started a personal blog called Random Acts of Kelliness. After 8 years of writing about food, travel, opera, and my life, the site eventually evolved to Whiskied Wanderlust. Here I write about food and travel, mixed with heavy doses of my whiskey obsession.
